Painting the Rosa canina Leaves (Video)

Hopefully you had the opportunity to practice painting leaves with lighter veins in the previous topic already. Now we will paint the leaves on our Rosa canina composition. While some of the leaves here have lighter veins, like in the practice exercise, some have darker veins and some have reflected light to contend with, depending on the lighting situation. Here we have the opportunity to explore several different strategies when it comes to leaves.

Materials:

  • Pigments: Prussian blue (or phthalo plue, winsor blue…), alizarin crimson, pure yellow (or lemon yellow), green gold.
  • Brush: Number 4 round
